In 1999, Joe and Jonathan were awarded the National Sanlam / Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The following year, Swart and Kelsey were nominated for the Marketing Excellence Awards from the Institute of Marketing Management.

In 2012, we became the only tea producers in South Africa to receive the Global Food Safety Certification FSSC22000. Two years after that, Swart and Kelsey were both nominated as finalists for the 2014 World Entrepreneur Awards.

In 2015, Joekels was awarded Big Brand of the year by Shoprite Group and in 2017 Joekels received the Shoprite Supplier of the Year award. In 2019, Joekels was awarded Best Own Brand Supplier by Pick ‘n Pay.

 

For 4 consecutive years, from 2021-2024, Laager Tea4Kidz (SA’s #1 Kids Tea brand), was awarded Product of the Year in the Kids Tea segment by leading parenting portal, Baby Yum Yum.

Society Caramel Toffee Cappuccino was crowned the 2024 Product of the Year in the Hot Beverages category.

Tetley Masala Chai was awarded Double Gold in the Aurora International Taste Challenge 2024 to the following: We’re proud to announce that Laager Cranberry & Wild Cherry Rooibos was awarded Silver in the Aurora International Taste Challenge 2024, with Tetley Premium Blend Lemon Tea being awarded Gold and Tetley Masala Chai being awarded the coveted Double Gold.

The Joekels factory is Halaal and Kosher accredited and carries the highest global food safety and quality certification, FSSC 22000. Laager Rooibos is accredited by the Heart & Stroke foundation of South Africa.
